● Fire Facilities
McCreary/Snow, in conjunction with our Structural Engineer, Chao & Associates was challenged with the difficulty of balancing budget and life safety in an historic structure to be renovated. The occupancy of the project mandated stringent fire protective materials at great cost and aesthetic impact to the wood columns and beams exposed in the building. Naturally, the historic preservation agencies wanted the structure exposed while American building codes had no precedent to allow exposure. So, we introduced char ratings from the European "Eurocode" to local regulatory officials. After analysis, they allowed the columns and beams to remain exposed.
We are adept at local, state and national approvals for historic projects and have the technical skills to assist you, cost effectively and aesthetically.
